Starting out or starting over?
Are you a student, unemployed, unwell or over-committed?
If you’re on a tight budget and living on a shoe-string, food and a good quality diet can often be the first thing to go.
Don’t do that to yourself or your family.
Eating well doesn’t mean spending a fortune. It doesn’t mean slaving for hours and it certainly doesn’t mean you have to be some kind of celebrity chef wannabe. It doesn’t mean you need a designer kitchen and the latest appliances either.
All it takes is common sense, a little forethought and the willingness to try something new once in a while.
Stick with me and I’ll talk you through.
Promise.
Until I decide on a final format for this site, you’ll find it divided into the following sections:
The Latest – shows you the most recent post, wherever it ends up finally living on the site. Mostly recipes, there will also be articles on other things that I hope will interest you.
$30 Challenge – Documents the week I fed us both for $30 each.
Live on $25 a week follows our adventures as we try to save enough to build/buy a house. People (who shall not be named) didn’t believe it was possible to feed us both for $25 AUD each a week. So, I tried to show them it was. It’s up to you to decide if I succeeded.
Basics – These are foundation things. The recipes that others build on, the basic kitchen craft that needs little or no skill and which will keep you fed without breaking the bank.
The Recipe Index – will enable you to find a recipe you may have seen here before or even to discover something new. Explore and enjoy.
Handy Hints – this is where I will put all those little things that don’t really need a whole blog post but which can be darn useful. It may not be added to often, but it should be worth looking at.
Then, coming up, First Things First – It’s here that I intend to set out the very basic tools and equipment you will need to store, prepare and serve food for yourself (and others in your life). There will also be articles on store cupboard staples and basic inventory lists to keep your head above water and you eating like a King. The words are being written as you read…
If there’s anything you think I should add or elaborate on, feel free to comment and let me know. I pay attention to all feedback.
Really.

Hi Rachel,
If you mean you want to find out if you are subscribed, then the answer was no. However, I have done that for you now and you should start receiving posts in your email.
For future reference, if there are other blogs you’d like to get updates from, then there is a “follow” button on the bottom right of the page. Click that, enter your email address and you are on the list.
Hope that meets your needs,
Sharon
PS. I’ve just added another button on the left hand frame as well.
